Business Finland's energiatuki is a continuous call for companies and organisations of all sizes, including municipalities, but not housing companies, residential properties or most farms. Investments must save energy, improve efficiency or deploy renewable energy through new technology. Conventional solar PV systems are explicitly not eligible; renewable projects other than biogas are funded only when they involve new technology, and storage is assessed on the same basis. Aid for renewable-energy investments is typically 15–30%, with a 30% ceiling for large companies and 40% for SMEs, on eligible costs between €30,000 and €5 million; efficiency investments get 15–25% and energy audits 40–50%. A binding order placed before the decision disqualifies the project, and the grant is paid after the final report.
For investments above €5 million, the Ministry of Economic Affairs ran a separate €48 million call in 2026 for large energy-technology demonstration projects, prioritising renewable transport fuels and storage with significant new technology; it closed on 5 August 2026 with decisions expected around the end of 2026.
For installers: Do not promise commercial customers an energy-aid grant for standard rooftop PV; position PV-plus-storage as eligible only where it demonstrates genuinely new technology, and otherwise sell on self-consumption economics.
